2007 October Survey Results

October 2007 RTTY Contesting Survey Results

Here are the results on the 2007 RTTY Contesting Survey.  Many thanks to all 583 contesters who participated.  There was participation from both RTTY and non-RTTY contesters.  The survey consisted of eight questions. For some questions, the results have been broken down to show total results and results by RTTY contesters only. Here are the questions and the results:

  • Please choose which profile best describes you.

    • The available options to choose from were:

      • I’m a diehard RTTY contester and go all-out in every contest I possibly can.

      • I’m a avid RTTY contester. In most contests I give full efforts but some contests I jump in just to give out points.

      • I’m a moderate RTTY contester. In some contests I give full efforts but in most contests I jump in just to give out points.

      • I’m a selective RTTY contester. I only operate certain RTTY contests and give a full effort in those contests I select.

      • I’m a casual RTTY contester. I rarely put in full efforts. I mainly get on just to give out points.

      • I’m a beginner RTTY contester just getting my feet wet.

      • I am not a RTTY contester, but would like to try it sometime.

      • I hate RTTY contesting. It’s a waste of time.

  • Are you concerned about RTTY signals on 40 meters below 7025 KHz during RTTY Contests?

    • The available options to choose from were:

      • Yes, I’m quite concerned. RTTY signals should stay above 7025 KHz to eliminate QRM to CW stations.

      • I will work stations below 7025 KHz but try not to CQ down there.

      • I’m not concerned at all. I have no problems working RTTY below 7025 KHz.
