Setting Up FSK

FSK keying using the microHAM USB micro KEYER with WriteLog can only be done when using the MMTTY plug-in (it can also be used with the MMTTY stand-alone program).  To use FSK keying with the microHAM USB micro KEYER, you must create a Virtual Port using the Device Router if one has not already been created.  If you created a virtual port for CW, you can also use it for FSK and vice versa.

Also, MMTTY must be configured to use USB.  This is done in MMTTY Setup and instructions are included on how to do that on this page.

1. Create new or use an existing Virtual Port for FSK using the Device Router software.  On the Ports screen of the Device Router, select which virtual port will be used for FSK (this can be the same port as CW if you choose).  For this example, I used virtual port COM6 for FSK.  (Note:  there is a PTT/FSK tab in Device Router but I have not found any settings there that has anything to do with actual FSK operation with WriteLog & the MMTTY Plug-in).

2. Leave the Device Router open and running or minimize it if you like.  Open WriteLog.  Set up for RTTY by opening a Rttyrite window using MMTTY as the TU Type.  (For information on using the MMTTY Plug-in with WriteLog check here.)  In the MMTTY RTTY control panel, go to MMTTY Setup from the Option menu.

3. When the Setup screen opens, click on the Misc tab.  On the Misc tab screen, click the USB Port button.

4. On the USB Port Option screen, select either option C or D.  These options have been proven to work.  (If for some reason FSK keying does not work with the USB micro KEYER using the C or D option, try A or B to see if there is any change.)  Click the OK button to return to the MMTTY Setup Screen.  Click OK on the MMTTY Setup Screen.

5. Once back to WriteLog, go to Ports menu in the Rttyrite window and select the COM port you will use for FSK.

This completes setting up WriteLog for FSK operation through the microHAM USB micro KEYER.
