The Icom IC-7600 Page
Updated 06/02/2010

Thanks to Ray Novak, N9JA, with Icom America for allowing me to test drive another Icom radio.  The radio is not new by today's standards.  It first became available in the USA in early 2009.  When it was announced, my first thought was that it would be just like the IC-756 PRO III but with a better display and roofing filters.  This is not the case.  The IC-7600, although similar in operation to the PRO III, is a radio all of it's own character.  The first thing that jumps out at you when you first turn it on is the display.  It's crystal clear and well laid out.  The other thing that got my attention is that all the buttons and knobs (except the main tuning knob) are bigger than the PRO II buttons and knobs, making the radio easier to operate.

My interest in the IC-7600 is for RTTY/PSK and RTTY Contesting.  I did not do major comprehensive testing of the radio because that has already been done by Adam, VA7OJ/AB4OJ.  Adam has an IC-7600 web page at http://www.ab4oj.com/icom/ic7600/main.html.  Adam's excellent IC-7600 User Review and Test Report can be found at http://www.ab4oj.com/icom/ic7600/7600notes.pdf.  In addition, there is a Yahoo IC-7600 Group where additional information about the radio can be found.  My '7600 pages will be mostly about my experiences with the radio.  While building these pages, I posted my observations and experiences on the rttycontesting.com blog.
